Winter Road Certification Training. This training is based on the Minnesota Snow and Ice Control Field Handbook for Snowplow Operators. It is focused on improving efficency and reducing environmental impacts of winter road maintenance. Winter Parking Lot and Sidewalk Training Minnesota is the first state to offer certification for winter parking lot and sidewalk maintenance. All plow drivers, maintenance workers, building managers or others who are involved in winter parking lot or sidewalk management are encouraged to attend. It is estimated that at 7-40% of the chloride entering our waters is from this source. In order to be certified you must attend a 1/2 day training class, pass the test and sign a pledge to try to incorporate the best management practices, you have learned in class, into your work. Those that complete all requirements will be mailed a certificate from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and their name will be listed on their website. www.pca.state.mn.us/programs/roadsalt.html To find out about upcoming training classes refer the MPCA website or our website under Calendar of Events.
